Being a High Court Judge is not without its dangers. Decisions in a legal dispute are bound to be unpopular with one side or the other. Sometimes a losing litigant is so incensed at the verdict that he is prepared to do anything to get revenge against the person he sees responsible - the Judge.
So it is that Lord Weston - distinguished by his recent elevation to the Bench - is rather alarmed when he discovers a note that seems to have threatening overtones. Is someone out to murder him? Which of his latest judgements have caused such anger that someone would wish to seek retribution?
But Lord Weston is not one to be intimidated by such threats. He is determined to take all necessary measures to ensure that the assassins shall not have their day. His secretary and his wife are drawn into the defensive arrangements - somewhat against their better judgement.
Can Lord Weston defeat the dark forces that appear to be looming on the horizon?
